History of Psychology:

Philosophers discussed a lot about human brain, thoughts and mental health for years. Philosophical psychology started from 17th century and many philosophers shared there research on it. But the modern psychology is very young science of 19th century.
Scientific of Modern (experimental) psychology:
Wilhelm Wundt (1832–1920) and William James (1842–1910), are credited as being the founders of psychology as a science and academic discipline that was distinct from philosophy. Wilhelm Wundt, The German physiologist, used scientific research methods in 1800s to investigate reaction times. He discovered many of the major connections between the science of physiology and the study of human thought and behavior. His book “Principles of Physiological Psychology,” published in 1873.
And the book of William James, “The Principles of Psychology,” made him the father of American Psychology. His book quickly became widely accepted as the primary reference in the field of psychology. Over time, his concepts laid the foundation for a novel school of thought, recognized as functionalism.
Importance of Psychology:
Psychology provides insights into the interplay between the body and mind, which can aid in decision-making and managing stressful situations. This knowledge is helpful for achieving goals, effective time management, and leading a fulfilling life.
The discipline not only contributes to personal success but also has implications for one’s overall health. It aids in managing mental illnesses, allowing individuals to lead functional lives. Psychiatrist is an MBBS doctor and he focuses on diagnosis of mental disorders then treating them by medications.
And a psychologist on other hand deal with some specific mental health issue like mode and anxiety disorders. And psychologist uses psychotherapies to treat the mental ill patient.
Both (psychiatrist and psychologist) play important roll in diagnosis and treatment of mental disorders. In some cases patient could recover from anxiety without using medication, just psychotherapies helps. But sometimes recovery without medication become difficult and psychiatrist prescribes medication.
